As Dr. Zambetakis mentioned, coronary heart disease is the most important complication of diabetes mellitus, and, moreover, is asymptomatic at a very high rate. Cardiovascular disease is the main cause of death as it is responsible for 70% of deaths of diabetic patients. Diabetic patients with myocardial infarction present a two times higher rate of mortality during their hospitalization and the invasive treatment of their coronary disease. The prevention of these complications first passes through the multifactorial treatment of these patients. Diabetic patients, at the majority of the cases and particularly in our country, have much more than one risk factor. At the end of the workshop, an interesting discussion between the speakers and the audience took place, while all the participants remarked the importance of the fact that a private company undertook by its own means to organize a scientific workshop that helps informing and updating about new developments in doctors and health professionals.
